Vi sono diverse spiegazioni per la mancata corrispondenza tra le capacità riportate in Gestione Dischi. Primo, alcuni file o cartelle del sistema sono esclusi dall'operazione di backup perché vengono rigenerati ogni volta che il tuo sistema si avvia o non sono adatti per il backup oppure perché non funzionano correttamente su un altro disco rigido o computer. L'elemento più grande e più consistente escluso è il file /private/var/vm/sleepimage. Il file sleepimage contiene lo stato in diretta della RAM del tuo Mac, quindi avrà le stesse dimensioni della RAM che hai installato.

Occasionally a circumstance arises in which CCC presents the following error message before creating or running a backup task:

Some antivirus applications may prevent Carbon Copy Cloner from reading certain files, mounting or unmounting disk image files, or, in general, degrade the performance of your backup. In some cases, antivirus applications can even affect the modification date of files that CCC has copied, which will cause CCC to recopy those files every time as if they have substantively changed. In another case, we have seen such software create massive cache files on the startup disk during a backup, so much so that the startup disk became full.

Network appliances are well suited to the task of serving media to multiple workstations, but they aren't necessarily great backup appliances. Media files are generally large and the required data rate for streaming media is relatively low. Consider a 1-hour, 1GB HD movie file. Streaming 1GB over the course of an hour requires only 0.27MB/s. That's a fairly easy task, even over a weak wireless network. If you want to back up 100GB in an hour, and that 100GB is comprised of a million smaller files, that's when you need some more muscle behind the file server.
